Patricia A. Anderson (Murphy) 76 of Yarmouth Port died Sunday December 1, 2019 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

She was the loving wife of the late Donald Lane Anderson. They had been married for 47 years.

Born in Boston, Pat was the loving daughter of Emmie (Dill) Murphy of Hyannis and the late Arthur J. Murphy. She was a graduate of Barnstable High School and the Fitchburg State College Nursing Program.

Pat became a registered nurse at Cape Cod Hospital, where she worked for over 40 years. Known as "Patty Pleasant", she spent time in the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit and the Operating Room. She loved her job, the nurses and doctors she worked alongside of, and her patients.

Pat, and her husband, were members of the Hyannis Yacht Club, where they enjoyed “boating” on the mooring, swimming lessons, and Sunday brunches with the grandkids.

Pat was an avid reader who loved the Yarmouth Port Library, participating in book clubs, and often attending book signings. She was also a proud member of The Friday Club, and she used to brag that she was one of the youngest members to join.

Upon retiring, Pat began actively volunteering at the Yarmouth Food Pantry, where she would bring her grandchildren along to teach them the value of giving back to the community. She has been helping members of our community, through the pantry, for ten years. Her hard work, dedication and natural ability to help others with respect and dignity will be sorely missed.

In addition to her mother, Pat is survived by her devoted son, Benjamin and his wife, Jennifer of South Yarmouth. She was the cherished “Gramma” of Abigail, Patrick, Lilliana, Matthew and her "adopted" grandchildren, Shannon, Kelley and Bobby Walsh. She is also survived by a brother, Michael Murphy and his partner, Judy and their two children. Pat was a loyal and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She also leaves behind a tremendous group of life-long friends that shared all of life's joys, sorrows and countless laughs together.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the family at a Celebration of Life reception at the Yarmouth House Restaurant, 335 Route 28, West Yarmouth Sunday, December 8 from 1 to 3 p.m.

As an expression of sympathy, please consider making donations to the Yarmouth Food Pantry, P.O. Box 982, West Yarmouth, MA 02673.

I will always remember Pat for her quick wit. She was a talented OR nurse who was always able to lighten the mood in what were, at times, very critical conditions. Of course, she was devoted to the two most important men in her life, Donald and Ben. She will be dearly missed by Ben and Jen and her loving grandchildren.
