Alyce L. (White) Favreau

Alyce L. (White) Favreau 85 of Brewster died Tuesday September 8, 2015. 
 
Alyce was the beloved wife of the late Richard E. Favreau.  They shared 59 years of marriage living in Virginia and Massachusetts, where they formed lifelong friendships and raised their family. 
 
Born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Gerald H. and Susan (Howard) White, Mrs. Favreau was raised and educated in Cambridge.  She attended St. Paul School, Cambridge Latin and Boston University. 
 
Alyce served as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy as an instrument flight instructor at Naval Air Station Squantum, during the Korean Conflict.  She was honorably discharged in 1951. 
 
Following her military career, Alyce served as the Director of Religious Education at the St. Louis and St. Ambrose parishes in Virginia, as well as Chair of Public Relations for the Arlington, VA Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.  A lifetime member of the League of Women Voters, she maintained active membership in the League of Women Voters of Fairfax, VA and served as president of the Cape Cod league.  She was also a member of the Winslow Hills Garden Club. 
 
Alyce retired to Cape Cod in 1981 and became an active member of the Garden Club of Brewster, which presented her with an honorary membership in 2011 for her many years of service to the club and to the Town of Brewster where she served on the Conservation Commission and the Board of Health in addition to many other appointed positions.
 
Alyce is survived by four children, Charles and his wife, Madeline of Seattle, WA, Peter and his wife, Barb of Rutland, VT, Susan of Brewster and John and his wife, Jeri of Gansevoort, NY; three grandchildren, Shannon, Alexandra, and Elliot; a great granddaughter, Courtney; a brother, John White of Cambridge; a sister, Elizabeth White of Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Virginia.
 
Funeral services will be private.
