Robert Arthur Megna 70 of Sandwich died last Thursday morning, March 19, 2020 at Cape Heritage Rehab and Nursing Facility due to heart complications.

Born in Boston, Robert (known by everyone as Bob) attended Saint Mary's School in North Attleboro, and North Attleboro High School. Bob later moved to Cape Cod, where he attended Cape Cod Community College. Among his occupations, he worked for Old Harbor Candle and Colonial Candle in Hyannis. He later became a skilled pipe fitter and oil burner installer, working for South Shore Heating and Cooling in Yarmouth. He also worked for the Barnstable County Court House in the 1990's.

Bob enjoyed reading books and watching movies, particularly war and action films. He appreciated comedy and enjoyed having a good laugh. He loved music, especially rock and roll of the 1950's through the 1980's, and had fun playing his guitar. Bob also loved cooking, and for a time riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He thought of himself as a free spirit, who loved spending time with his family and friends. We will miss him.

Surviving immediate family include Bob's two daughters and two sons: Shelley Horvath of Longview, TX, Angela McAdams of Attleboro, MA, Michael Megna of Yarmouthport, MA, Robert Megna II of Stoughton, MA, and 5 grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Phyllis Jillson of Nashua, NH, and 4 brothers: Ronald Megna of Attleboro, MA , Joseph Megna of North Attleboro, MA, Phillip Megna of Sutton, MA, and Anthony Megna Jr. of North Attleboro, MA. Pre-deceased family include Bob's parents: Anthony A. Megna and Josephine (Cirrone) Megna, and 2 brothers: Richard Megna and Francis Megna.

A private family burial will take place Saint Mary's Cemetery in Attleboro Falls at a later date.

Mike, Rob, Shelley, A J, Phyllis, and all the Megna brothers, Im thinking about you and know you re feeling a great loss. Bob was a loving and caring brother- in -law to me for many years, He was part of my family and always in my thoughts, went through so much the last few years. I first met Bob at the Sub and Pub, West Yarmouth in 1974 , I was a hostess there.,Later that summer he took me on my first motorcycle ride- I ll never forget!! It was awesome.,He had a funny sense of humor, was generous - once he won a few hundred on an instant lottery ticket and that night he bought me a big bottle of Kahlua liqueur cause he knew it was my favorite. Many times he helped me at home with projects that made life easier, and heroically whipped up a soothing paste with baking soda when Greg was 4 yrs. old and got stung by a wasp! , I know Bob was rough around the edges, but he really loved his family and underneath and outwardly took pride in you all. Thats what he shared with me when we d talk. Rob, I know .you re feeling this so deeply, you devoted hours upon hours and helped him so much, I hope time will make things easier to accept, I love you all, you re all in my thoughts and your dad is in my heart with love and peace,..love,Aunt Jackie
