Helen V. (Ostrosky) Evans, 94 of Yarmouthport died at her home Thursday September 17, 2015 after years of coping with Alzheimer's Disease, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and happy life.

She was the wife of Ernest S. Evans for 73 years.

Born and raised in Stamford, CT, Helen was the daughter of the late Michael and Veronica (Dzioba) Ostrosky.  She graduated from Stamford High School and attended secretarial school.  Several years later, while at a rollerskating dance, Helen met her future husband, Ernest S. Evans.

Helen spent time working for the  Stamford Advocate newspaper before becoming an executive secretary with Otis Elevator Co.  She then became secretary to the company president before her retirement.

Helen and Ernest soon fell in love with Cape Cod, where they had often vacationed.  They maintained a second home for many years before retiring there permanently 35 years ago following her serious heart surgery.  The Cape proved to be the perfect tonic for her healthy, but necessary subdued retirement years.  From here Helen lived her life with great joy and care for her husband, family and home.

In addition to her husband, Helen is survived a son, Attorney Kenneth M. Evans and his wife, Christina; two grandsons, Kenneth M. Evans II, and Attorney Eric H. Evans; six great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four bothers, George, Stanley, John, and Michael Ostrosky.

Funeral services will be private.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to Hope Hospice and Alzheimer’s Services, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
