John Joseph Brady, 85, of East Dennis died peacefully at the Cape Cod Hospital on June 23, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.  John is survived by his adoring wife of 56 years, Ann (Steimen) Brady: his five children, Joann Brady (Debra), John Jr.  Brady (Jennifer), Michael Brady (Stephanie), Clare Ulrich (Paul), Patricia Ward (Adam) and his brother, William Brady and his family. He is predeceased by his siblings, Al and Mary.

 He was born November 23, 1934 in Boston MA, the son of Albert and Mary Brady and grew up in West Roxbury.  He graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and received his Master’s Degree from Boston Teacher’s College, while serving in the Army National Guard.  John taught science for 35 years in the Canton and Wayland Public Schools, and for many years served as head of the science department.  He loved his greenhouse and developed the garden club to introduce all aspects of gardening to special needs children.  Later he served as the principal of St. Ambrose School in Dorchester. 

Upon retirement he and Ann traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States finally settling in the place they loved best, Sesuit Neck in East Dennis.  John was a deeply religious man and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster.  He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and tinkering on many projects.  He loved spending time with his 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dylan, Rebecca, Hunter, Megan and Alyssa. 

John was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. His life was a blessing; his memory a treasure.  He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth on Tuesday, June 30 from 3-6 P.M.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 1 in Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stony Brook Rd., Brewster MA at 11:00 A.M.  Burial will follow in Quivet Cemetery, South St., East Dennis, MA.

John and Ann are my next door neighbors on Sesuit Neck. I really enjoyed sitting with the during the summer months outside their garage.. John was deeply religious and very kind and generous, especially with the bounty from his garden. He will be missed very much. My condolences to the family he loved so much.
