She was born in South Weymouth, MA on March 19, 1951, the daughter of the late Thomas and Regina (Sullivan) Curran.  Denise graduated from Weymouth High School in 1969 and  received her Associates’ Degree from Quincy Junior College.

Denise married the love of her life, Martin J. Murphy in 1973. They relocated shortly thereafter to Cape Cod to raise their family. She worked as a bookkeeper for various small businesses, and then later in the Finance Department at Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod until her retirement.

Denise is survived by her loving husband, Marty, her daughter, Melissa Hanlon and her husband, Dan, of Brentwood, NH, her daughter, Jessica Lyons, and her husband, Sean, of Stratham, NH and her brother-in-law, Carl Flipp of South Weymouth, MA.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amelia and Nora Hanlon, and Jane and Kellan Lyons, and her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Denise was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas Curran, James Curran, and Daniel Curran, and  her beloved sister and best friend, Connie Flipp, with whom she shared an exceptional bond and numerous adventures.

Denise was passionate about spending time with her family, watching the sunrise on the beach, and tending to her beautiful gardens. She was an avid reader and dear friend to many.  In 2001 she co-founded the Taylor Bray Farm Preservation Association along with her husband and fellow neighbors. Over the years, she devoted time, energy and love to this important historical and cultural resource.

Funeral services will be private in light of Covid-19.  The family plans to hold a celebration of her life when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in her memory to the Taylor Bray Farm Preservation Association,  P.O.
