William J. Simpson, Jr. 94 of Yarmouth Port died at his home Monday July 20, 2020.

He was the devoted husband of the late Sarah M. (Cardillo) Simpson. They had been married for 64 years.

Born in Boston, Mr. Simpson was the son of the late William J. and Mary Ellen (Donnelly) Simpson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class in 1948.

A tireless worker, Mr. Simpson worked two full-time jobs, during most of his married life, as a postal worker and as an operations ramp agent at the former Eastern Airlines.

His Catholic faith was unshakeable and he attended Mass at Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster everyday in retirement. Mr. Simpson owned and demonstrated an admirable leadership example based on being a good citizen, an unselfish commitment to public service and a contagious enthusiasm rooted in genuine fellowship.

Mr. Simpson was an avid fan of opera music, classic movies, and he loved to sing with his Irish tenor voice. He was also dedicated to veterans’ issues and the U.S.M.C., participating regularly in service-related events and marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, including this years at the age of 94.

Mr. Simpson is survived by two sons, William J. Simpson, III and his wife, Kimberly of Montgomery, TX and Jeffrey C. Simpson and his wife, Lisa of Lithia, FL; a daughter, Patricia A. Simpson and her husband, Theo Lipfert of Bozeman, MT; nine grandchildren, Kelly Campbell and her husband, Mark, Lauren, Christopher, Samantha, James, Jacqueline and Sean Simpson, and Jackson and Colton Lipfert; and three great grandchildren, Kayla Harvey, and Lily and Ryan Campbell.

Funeral services will be private.

Billy, Jeff, and Patty Ann, Our condolences on Uncle Bill's passing. He was truly " One Great American". He always had a big smile,with a hug and kiss for his nieces, and nephews when he saw us. Together with Auntie Sarah, they were an outstanding example of true Family Values. Will never forget the great memories that they created by their annual Kids Christmas Party in Watertown, for us kids, and the entire family. Our grateful thoughts will be with you today, as you put Auntie and Uncle to rest to together, Forever.
