Loving Husband, Father and Brother

William J. McCormick, Jr. 87 of South Dennis and Naples, FL passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday July 29, 2020.

He was the beloved husband of Marilyn A. (Stewart) McCormick. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

Born in Lowell, Bill was the son of the late William and Lillian (McCarty) McCormick. He was raised in Lowell and was a 1951 graduate of Keith Academy. He earned his BS in Business Administration from Merrimack College and also attained Master’s Degrees in Education and Business Administration from Salem State Teachers College and Suffolk University, respectively.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1957 with the rank of Private First Class.

In retirement Bill was an active member of the local chapter of the Lions Club International, an AmeriCorps volunteer, and served as a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program, among many other philanthropic and charitable endeavors and activities.

Always outgoing and social, Bill had an enormous and generous heart. He made an indelible impact on the many people whose lives he touched. With family and entertaining in mind, Bill took an active role in the design and expansion of his Cape Cod home which was always open to guests. He most enjoyed hosting annual Fourth of July and Labor Day parties for all his family and friends.

In addition to his dedication to family and volunteering, Bill had many interests. He enjoyed the beach, boating, construction and design. He loved spending time with his wife dancing, going to the beach, and traveling around Cape Cod, South Florida, and the world.
