Margaret Franzon

Sep 16th, 2020

Margaret Franzon of North Eastham passed away on September 16, 2020. She was born in Brooklyn, New York to Margaret and Adolf Fischer.

Margaret grew up in Brooklyn and was always ready to share her fond memories of being from and growing up in Brooklyn. In 1952, she and her husband Kurt moved to Bedford, NY where they raised their family. Margaret worked at an Insurance Agency in Pound Ridge, New York until she retired. After her first trip to Cape Cod in 1960, she and Kurt knew they only wanted to settle in North Eastham, which they were able to do in 1985.

Once retired and permanently living in North Eastham, Margaret continued to be active. She enjoyed working at the Four Points Sheraton in North Eastham and volunteering at the Eastham Senior Center. She loved visiting the elderly and working at the Thrift Shop. Although she and Kurt spent a month in Hollywood, Florida each year, the Cape was her true home. She loved reading the Cape Codder. She sang in the church choir, enjoyed crocheting, and loved spending time at the beach. One of her favorite hobbies was to collect owls. She had an extensive collection which gave her great joy. Margaret was a strong woman who survived many health setbacks this past year. She will be remembered for her strength, determination, and her laughter.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt, and her son, William. She leaves behind her daughter, Lila Rasowsky-Watson (Bob Watson) of Virginia, her granddaughters Melissa Rasowsky (Thomas Woodburn) of Virginia, Emily Rasowsky of Washington, DC, and her great granddaughter, Olivia Woodburn.

A joint memorial service for Margaret and Kurt will be held at a later date.
