George K. Hibbard Jr. of Yarmouth Port, MA passed away on January 22, 2021 at the age of 75.  Also known as Buzzy, he was born in Barnstable to George K. Sr. and Constance J. (Stackhouse) Hibbard.

In his younger years, the family lived in Centerville eventually moving to Yarmouth where he attended school and graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in 1964. Following high school George joined his Father’s plumbing business, Cape Cod Plumbing & Heating, and earned his Master Plumber’s license. He became the proprietor, continuing on until his retirement.

Buzzy enjoyed traveling the United States, especially to his favorite spot, Palm Springs, CA.  There were also many weekend getaways  to Boston.

Friends and family were often welcomed  at the Hibbard home for dinners and cookouts, the grandest of those gatherings was on the fourth of July.  He loved working in his yard and garden and watching football games, especially his favorite college team, Penn. State.

When his grandchildren were young he took them on a “job” and treated them to coke and candy.  There were numerous Friday night sleep- overs with many grandchildren sleeping on the bedroom floor.

He was a proud and kind man who loved his family and friends and his job as a plumber.

George is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann (Bisson) Hibbard: four children, Brian and his wife, Julie Hibbard of Marstons Mills, George K. III and his wife, Rebecca Hibbard of Fairhaven, Kristen Van Ness and her husband, Christopher of Bridgewater and Leigh Clarke and her husband, Thomas of Harwich Port.  He is also survived by his brother Edmund Hibbard of Portsmouth, NH and two sisters, Trudi Sullivan of Gilford, NH and Faye Ares of ME as well as; eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Erik, Lynne, Christopher, Michael, Margaret, Emma, Joshua, Griffin, Noah and Samantha.

In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by his treasured daughter, Corri, and his sister, Nona Holmes.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, January 29 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.  A private family graveside service will be held.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Contributions in his memory may be made to VNA Hospice at Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation.

To the entire Hibbard family, please know how saddened I was to drive by the cemetery today to check on my families plot and realize that Buzzy had passed. Please know that my heart, thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Although it was a lifetime ago, I cherish all of my childhood memories of growing up down the street from all of you and hope that you will find some peace in your cherished memories.
