Jean Sears passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 24, 2021, at The Terraces of Orleans. Jean was the first child of Priscilla B. Lincoln and Graham W. Bates. She survived polio.

Jean moved to Brewster, with her family, in 1954 where she later met and married the love of her life, Henry F. Sears, a former captain of the Brewster Fire Department for 49 years. Together they raised three children.

Jean and Henry lived their life with the goal of helping others, all those in need, no matter the circumstance or time of day. Jean and Henry were both named Brewster’s “Person of the Year”, three years apart, for their unwavering service to the town and community. Jean was the director of the Council on Aging for 29 years. Jean was fortunate enough to find her lifelong best friend, Carolyn Ellis Clark.

Adored by many, loved by her family. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Terraces of Orleans for their superior care and attention given to their mother.

Donations would be appreciated. Please send to the Lower Cape Outreach Council, 19 Brewster Cross Rd., Orleans, MA 02653.
