Janet L. (Waite) White 88 of Yarmouth Port died Sunday May 16, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Yarmouth Port, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of the late Forrest E. “Bub” White who died in 2010. They had been married for 53 years. Janet had just returned home from her favorite vacation spot at Ft. Myers Beach, FL, where she and her late husband had spent nearly 30 years vacationing.

Janet had her first job on the Cape working for Dr. Earle Webster and then she worked at Cape Cod Hospital as a medical transcriptionist for many years.

She served the Town of Yarmouth in many capacities, including the Conservation Commission, the Panning Board, and the Historic District Committee. She also served as a member of the Young Mother’s Club, and as a Camp Fire Girls leader.

Janet was a descendant of William Brewster from the Mayflower and she enjoyed exploring her family tree. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds on her deck, gardening, spending time with her family, the beach, country music, and watching Fox News. In her younger years, Janet enjoyed taking Adult Education classes for many different projects, and dancing at the Sandy Pond Club.

Janet is survived by two daughters, Deborah Fanara of Dennis, and Deanne Robinson of Yarmouth Port; a sister, Judith Kenney of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Fanara and his fiancé, Patricia Gately of Hudson, Kelcey Fanara of Del Ray, FL, and Mallory Fanara of Dennis; one great granddaughter, whom she adored immensely, Sofia Rose; six nephews and a niece; and her best friend and bridesmaid, Jean Clough. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Forrest E. White, Jr., her sister, Marialyce Eishen, and two sons in-law, John P. Fanara, Jr. and Mark A. Robinson.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday May 24 in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth to be followed by a graveside service in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Yarmouth.
