Diane Chamberlain, 78, of West Yarmouth died Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Maplewood at Mayflower Place Nursing and Rehab Center in West Yarmouth after a 5 year valiant and courageous fight with dementia.

Born in Cambridge, Diane was the daughter of the late Philip and Marion (Alden) Chamberlain. She was a 1960 graduate of Arlington High School and a 1964 graduate of Boston State College.

For over 40 years, Diane worked as an underwriter for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston. She retired in 2005.

In her spare time, Diane was a lover of animals, and she enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. She was an avid reader of biographies, mysteries and history books. She was a season ticket holder to the Cape Cod Symphony and Lyric Stage. Her many travels took her to England and Scotland, all the New England states and beyond. Trips to Nantucket and The Highland Games in Lincoln, NH were annual events for many years.

Diane is survived by her cousins, Linda (Duffie) Freeman and Janice (Alden) Mello; and her dear friends, Mary Ellen and Fred Syrjala. In addition to her parents, Diane was predeceased by her aunts and uncles, Walter and Marion (Daland) Alden, Robert and Eleanore (Alden) Duffie, and Henry and Florence (Chamberlain) Keating; and cousins, Walter Alden, Jr., Marilyn (Alden) Wisner, and Charles Alden.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday June 9 in Pine Grove Cemetery, Station Ave, South Yarmouth. The procession to the cemetery will leave at 10:45 a.m. from the Hallett Funeral Home 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the MSPCA Cape Cod, 1577 Falmouth Rd, Centerville, MA 02632.

Diane..Oh what adventures we had over the years. So many places and what wonderful memories. Too many to mention but 2 stand out. You, Charlie and I vacationing on Nantucket those many years. We sure kept Charlie on his toes. What fun you, Sandy, Esther and I had at the Highland Games, also for many years. Follow those bagpipes, Diane. Miss you, cuz.
