Kevin M. Johnson, 61 of South Yarmouth died Tuesday June 1, 2021, after battling multiple ailments over the last two years.

He was the fiancé of Wendy Eldridge, the love of his life.

Kevin was a legendary racer in the 1970’s and 1980’s, having won multiple championships. He was happiest on the back of a bike, whether on a dirt track or the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire.

A talented welder, machine operator, and truck driver, Kevin’s work is well known across Cape Cod.

Kevin had a huge heart and never met a stranger. There was always a twinkle in his eye and he had a smile that lit up a room. He will be remembered as a friend to all, and the life of the party.

Wendy would like to thank the staff of Cape Cod Hospital, Dr. Chzarn, Dr. Riemer, and the staff of Outer Cape Health for their kindness and care.

In addition to the love of his life, Kevin is survived by Wendy’s two sons Jimmy and Danny; his mother, Jackie Johnson; his siblings, Scott Johnson and his wife, Karen, Shawn Johnson and Allison Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Donald C. Johnson. Kevin will also be remembered by his Motocross family.

Kevin and Tom have known each other since high School at Cape Cod Tech. They both enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles. Wendy and Kevin became our good friends and we had so many great times riding our motorcycles in charity rides and on Sunday afternoons. No one made us laugh more than Kevin!

We will always have with us the memory of spending time with Kevin. We went on many adventures with him and our large group of friends. Kevin was the life of the party and then some. Our thoughts are with Wendy and the Johnson family. Kevin it’s not good bye it’s till we meet again. Always in our hearts.

Rich grew up with Kevin and had many adventures together over the years. I met Kevin on my second date with Rich and immediately loved him. He was always there when we needed him. He was a truly great friend. I will always remember him as the best man at our wedding. When it was time for him to give his speech all he said was: "I have to talk?". Priceless. We will miss him very much and was blessed to have him as a friend.
