Ronald Alden Wright of Harwich returned home to heaven at the age of 87 on July 19, 2021. He was born in Brockton, the son, and only surviving child, of Forrest Coleman Wright and Dorothy Louise Belcher.

Ronnie graduated from Whitman High School at the age of 16 and went on to college at Northeastern University in Boston. After two years of college, it became apparent that he was going to be drafted into the military for the Korean war, so he enlisted in the Navy, attended the Naval Flight School in Pensacola, Florida and became a pilot.

Ron married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Brett Battles of Brockton, on September 16, 1955. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

Ron served in the Navy for 12 years. Those years included flying across the Atlantic Ocean from Newfoundland to the Azores as part of the Early Warning System program, three years as a Navy recruiter in New England and New York, and a year in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

After retiring from the Navy, Ron moved the family to Hawaii for a few years and worked as a salesman for IBM selling office products. While living in Waikiki he and his family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ron and Nancy served faithfully in many church callings. When they later retired to Cape Cod, they served together in the Boston Temple for 10 years.

After moving from Hawaii to Utah Ron attended Brigham Young University and in 1972, he received a B.S. in Geography, an M.S. in Geography, and an MBA. Ron and Nancy ran their own travel agency in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for many years and traveled the world. One of Ron’s favorite places to visit was Jerusalem. He was a member of the Yarmouth Rotary Club for many years.

Ron is survived by his wife, Nancy; his four daughters Bonnie (Bingham), Lynne (Eric Mercer), Becky (Sherwood Glazier), and Holly (Scott McMillan); 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ronald Alden Wright Jr.; a son-in-law, Perry Bingham; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 94 Freeman’s Way in Brewster. Interment will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connory Ave, Bourne at 1:30 p.m.

Hi Nancy We just got the news, I am so sorry to hear it. You and Ron are in out Prayers. I am so thankful that we got to know you and Ron. I always enjoyed our 'visits' at Dick and Lois's. I really loved hearing Rons stories of his many many adventures., and especially I especially enjoyed talking politics with fellow believers. You and Ron were so lucky to have such a long and wonderful marriage and great daughters. If we knew in time we would like to have been there to say goodby. RIP Ron and I hope you are well Nancy. We will try to see you the next time we get to the cape. Love, The Manning's.
