James Allen Rogers, Jr. of Dennis, MA passed away, after a brief illness, on January 28, 2022, with his loving wife, Susan E. Farrell, by his side.
James was born on November 11, 1947 to James Allen Sr.and Mary Elizabeth Rogers of Newton. After graduating from Newton North High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country with distinction in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969 as a Helicopter Crew Chief, earning the rank of Sergeant.
Following his military service, James worked in the pest control industry where he started his own business. In 1975 James became a police officer joining the Newton Police Department where he remained until his retirement in 2003. During his employment with the police department he graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980.
In 2007 James earned his U.S. Coast Guard Master Mariner License and with his life-long love of boating, operated White Witch Charters from 2007 to 2021. In addition to his many talents, he also was a driving instructor in Hyannis from 2010 to 2014 and then became the Assistant Manager at Lock Up Storage in Dennis.
In addition to his father and mother, James is predeceased by his brother, Richard.
A graveside service with military honors, will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 10:45 A.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA.
