Mary White, 83, of Hyannis, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 2, 2026. The daughter of Edward Norton and Monica (Lavender), she was raised in Middlebury, VT and Poughkeepsie, NY. She moved to the Cape in 1981 where she owned Ups and Downs Hair Salon for 7 years.

Because of her passion for hair and love of people, she truly enjoyed her 60-year career as a hair stylist. Always wanting to improve, she would take repeated trips to Sassoon, both in Toronto and California to hone her cutting skills. She also enjoyed her many trips to Manhattan to learn from colorist Beth Minardi. While there she loved spending time at Times Square Church, which held a special place in her heart.

Mary was forever grateful for the goodness and faithfulness of God throughout her life, and loved to share this with others, especially the personal story of her life changing encounter with Him.

She is the loving mother of Kristen Shaughnessy, of Yarmouth, who would like to thank the Pavilion Nursing Center and Beacon Hospice for their care over the last few years.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at the Harbor Church, 957 Falmouth Rd, Hyannis, on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 PM.
