Milton Lewis Feltch September 4, 1941 – April 27, 2026
Milton Lewis Feltch, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away on April 27, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on September 4, 1941, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to Doris and Milton Feltch Sr., Milton grew up in West Yarmouth, where he graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth High School in 1959. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas, earning his degree in 1964 before beginning a distinguished career of service to his country.
Milton joined the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and attended Air Force Maintenance School, quickly establishing himself as a leader in his field. In November of 1965, he married the love of his life, Mary Hollos, beginning a partnership that would span more than sixty years.
Milton achieved multiple promotions while serving across the United States and also in the Philippines. Throughout his service, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise, ultimately achieving the rank of Colonel in 1985.
During this time, Milton and Mary welcomed their two sons. Their first son, Milton Louis Feltch, was born in Homestead, Florida, and their second son, Michael Leland Feltch, was born at Westover Air Force Base.
Colonel Feltch proudly served the nation through both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. Widely respected by peers and superiors alike as the consummate expert in Air Force maintenance, his career was marked by excellence and dedication. His many honors include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor.
Beyond his military service, Milton had a lifelong passion for photography. His keen eye for capturing the perfect image earned him numerous awards throughout his life, particularly during his time in the Air Force.
Following his retirement in 1992 in Great Falls, Montana, Milton embraced his love of travel and photography, exploring the country coast to coast in his motor homes. In 2018, he returned to his hometown of West Yarmouth, where he spent his later years.
Milton is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Feltch of West Yarmouth; his sister, Carol Collins of West Yarmouth; his son Milton Feltch and daughter-in-law Patricia Feltch of Arizona; his son Michael Feltch of West Yarmouth and daughter-in-law Iva Feltch of Plymouth; his grandsons, Milton A. Feltch and his wife Ronnie Feltch of Arizona, Nicholas Feltch of Arizona, and Alexander Feltch of Plymouth; and his great-grandsons, Milton Malcolm Feltch and Brady James Kerry Feltch.
Milton will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his passions. His legacy of service, integrity, and love will live on in all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth on Wednesday May 13 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
