Kenneth Howard Spillane, 87, died peacefully in his home aided by Hospice and with his loved ones on July 17, 2026.
 
Born in Brockton, in 1939, He was the son of the late James Spillane, Sr, of Brockton, and the late Dorothy Spillane Dixon of Tampa Bay, FL. Kenneth is pre-deceased by his wife Dorothy Pounds Spillane.
 
After attending Brockton High School, Kenneth, served Honorably in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 87th Airborne Division, as a part of the very first airborne army paratroopers. After his military service, he worked as a Brockton Police Officer, years later relocating to Cape Cod, where he resided in South Yarmouth, and became a plumber. Kenneth was a member of AA for nearly 60 years, where he worked tirelessly, helping hundreds of people learn the principles of living life on life's terms. He also deeply discounted plumbing work for seniors who needed work but were on a severe budget.
 
Kenneth was an avid sports fan, and he especially loved baseball and the Red Sox. He wrote and produced a song titled "Billy Boy" about Yankees manager Billy Martin, which was accepted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also loved the game of Golf where he served as the head of the "60s" group at Bass River GC where he also shot a hole in one. Not to be left out, he also shot a hole in one at Bayberry Hills. Kenneth was also an avid collector of sports memorabilia, travelling to shows across the Northeast.
 
Kenneth leaves behind a brother Frederick Spillane of Palm Beach, FL; daughters Sheri Goldie of Grandview, MO and Lori Hemming of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Antonia Hemming, Michael Hemming III, and Harrison Hemming of Olathe, KS and Fletcher Goldie (Kaitlyn) of Grandview, MO. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Henry Hemming of Olathe, KS, and Cecilia Marie Goldie of Grandview, MO. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins and many special friends including the Yarmouth Police Department and the Veteran's Outreach Center. 
 
Everyone will surely miss that smiling face, that sense of humor and untold stories about his life's experiences. 
 
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

I send my very best wishes to Kenny's family. I attended Brockton public schools with Kenny way back in the 1950s. A Brockton Enterprise columnist once wrote that is is sad that sometimes a person only gets to know aspects of a person's life in an obituary and then it is too late to speak to the deceased former friend about those experiences. Rest In Peace, Kenny. Your family and your current and former friends are proud of your commendable life and proud to have known you.
