It is with such sorrow that I have to announce that my love James Madison passed away on September 25, 2026, from Brain Cancer.

Jim was an amazing man. Loving father, husband, brother and uncle and Loyal friend. When he loved you, you knew it. He was a very quiet reserved man that did not want to take the center of attention, but he did know how to be seen. His Dad jokes, his puns and dry sense of humor made him remarkable. He was the silent presence that you always wanted more of him.

When he moved to the cape, he was so happy. He started going clamming, (he found out Beth sings to the clams before she puts them in her basket) joined the sons of Erin (thanks to his wife Betsy) joined the cribbage team, started working at the golf course and was looking forward to getting back to playing golf with the boys. He also volunteered at the Cotuit center of the arts and was always playing music – his main passion. He said what a wonderful place to be where your back yard is the ocean. A place we took many walks just to enjoy the day and each other. What I hope people remember the most about Jim was how much laughter he brought to everyone’s life. His love and compassion and just pure joy for life. To be near the people who made him happy and loved.

Jim is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” Madison; sons Brendan Madison, Justin Madison, and Ryan Madison; sister Bonnie Stevens and her husband Ken; niece Missy Escalante; nephew Sean Stevens.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. Burial will follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery in West Yarmouth.

Please pass on Jims’s joy to this world. Do what makes you happy, put your feet in the ocean. Sing loudly to the world with passion. Hug your loved ones and tell them you love them.
