Mary E. Connolly

Mary Elizabeth (O’Connell) Connolly, 89, of West Yarmouth passed away on May 8, 2022 surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Brockton, MA on August 26,1932, the daughter of the late Thomas O’connell and Alma (Greenwood) O’Connell where she joined her older brother Robert. She attended school in Brockton and graduated from St Patrick’s high school in 1955. Mary married Fred Connolly in June of 1956 and they welcomed five beautiful children together in the years following. The Connolly’s summered on the Cape for years until 1966 when Fred & Mary moved to Dennis, MA where they remained. Family was important to her, and she loved spending time on the beach.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Fred Connolly, her daughter Eileen George and her brother Robert O’Connell. She is survived by her children, Cathy Fitzgerald and her husband Patrick, James Connolly and his wife Carole, Paul Connolly and his wife Brenda, and Ann Connolly. She had 15 grandchildren: Tabitha, Kaitlin, Kristen, Lauren, Erin, Kelly, Tess, Kevin, Mickaela, Luke, Mary, Isabella, Jamie, Grace and Jack. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Timmy, Adriana, Miles, Harland, Everett, Michael, Maise, Owen, Levi, Charlie, Rowan and a couple more on the way!

Our family would like to give a special thank you and our deepest appreciation to the staff of Mill Hill Residence and Broad Reach Hospice for their love and care of Mary.

In lieu of flowers, Mary would greatly appreciate donations in the rider names of Jim, Kristen or Kevin Connolly who ride in the Pan Mass Challenge for Dana Farber. Donations can be made at:

A Celebration of life will be held at Grays Beach in Yarmouth Port in the picnic area this Saturday May 14th from 12:00pm-4:00pm all are welcome.
