We are sad to announce that Dimitra Argyriadis passed away in the early morning hours of December 7, 2022 with her family by her side. She would not have hesitated to tell you that she had lived an incredible life.

Dimitra was born on August 12, 1939 in Hrisohorafa, Greece, and was the eldest of three siblings. She and her husband George were married on December 12, 1957 and spent 65 years together. People often marveled at how joyful and loving they were long into their marriage, and Dimitra would flash a mischievous smile and reply, “Our secret is we fight everyday.”

A trained seamstress, her family moved to Worcester, MA in 1970 after she’d secured work in a textile factory. In 1989, the family relocated to the Cape and Dimitra worked alongside her children at their respective businesses. Devout in her Greek Orthodox faith, Dimitra would frequently and effusively thank God that she and George were able to build a life in the United States, and brighten the futures of their children and grandchildren.

To her family, she was best described as loving, intelligent, and strong. She was notorious for her cooking, read voraciously, and spent most of her free time in the garden with George. Quick-witted and wonderfully tempestuous, her sense of humor was a gift to all who loved her. She will be missed by her adoring husband George, her son Angelo and his wife Angela, daughter Elaine Baraklilis and her husband John, sister Zoi Panayiotou and husband Markos, and five grandchildren who will love her eternally and miss her tiropita: Pashalis, George, and Sofia Baraklilis; and Dimitra (Jaime) and Nicole Argyriadis. She was predeceased by her brother Argyris Dimopoulos and his wife Sultana.

Visitation will be held from 12-1pm on Monday, December 12th, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, with a funeral service to immediately follow. Burial in Chandler Gray Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donation in Dimitra's name can be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Rd, Centerville, MA 02632.
