Jane H. Bacon, 99, passed away at her home in Dennis, MA on April 28, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late J. Remington Hobbie Jr. and E. Eleanor Miller Hobbie. She leaves behind two daughters, Carol L. Nichols and Deborah J. Janeway (John). Five grandchildren: Heather Doherty (Scott), Megan Nichols, Jennifer Pearson (Charles), Timothy Janeway (Adriana), Christopher Nichols (Julia). Five Great Grandchildren: Anna, Alexandra (Allie), Morgan, Brooke and Taylor. Many nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the United States. A sister-in-law Cynthia Hobbie and a brother-in-law Kenneth Beckman. And her faithful four-legged companion Willa.

Jane was trained as an Early Childhood teacher at Elliot Pearson. She then became a teacher and director of Nursery Schools in Cambridge, Arlington and Belmont, MA. In the early 1970‘s she then started working for insurance agencies in the Lexington, MA area. She and her husband Bill relocated from Lexington to Dennis, MA in 1979 where she then worked for a local dentist.

Upon full retirement she volunteered at The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Dennis Historical Society, local Hospice, tutored at a local elementary school, knitted for the Dennis Library and the Dennis Union Church.

Jane was predeceased by her husband Bill Bacon, her sisters Eleanor Elizabeth “Libby” Honeycutt, Margaret “Peg” Beckman, her brother Russell K. Hobbie and a son-in-law Richard J. Nichols.

At Jane’s request there will be no immediate services. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the family plot in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada.

Jane’s family would like to personally thank her care team: Gretchen, Katie, Savina and Red at Beacon Hospice for their exceptional care during her final days.

In reading her life's story, I believe she lived life to the fullest. I am so sorry for your loss. She leaves an incredible legacy

Joshua says “I wish I could spend more time with you.” I think that is how we all feel. Thank you for being our COVID Nana and the only one the boys know. You will not be forgotten. And thank you, Megan, for taking such amazing care of her and Pop Pop. Your sacrifice, patience and kindness are second to none. Love, The Grace Family
