Linda (Beach) Johnston age 81 of Brighton, MA, passed away peacefully at the Presentation Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Brighton on May 20, 2023, surrounded by love and Elvis Presley music.

Born in Newton, MA on June 17, 1941, she was the loving daughter of the late Harold W. Beach and the late Eleanor M. (McLaughlin) Beach.

Linda grew up in Belmont, MA and was a proud graduate of the Belmont High School Class of 1959. Linda developed a love for art, music, and drama and enjoyed so much singing in the Glee Club, “The A Cappella Choir”, and her time in the Dramatic clubs. Linda went on to attend the Vermont College of Fine Arts Class of 1961 and enjoyed acting in Community Theater.

In 1979, Linda and her husband Joe pursued their passion to become innkeepers. With no prior experience and armed only with their entrepreneurial spirit, Linda and Joe jumped headfirst into the deep end of the hospitality pool and purchased the New England Inn in North Conway, NH and later, the Hancock Inn in Hancock, NH. Through a lot of help and hard work, they built both into very successful Inns and were so proud to host guests from all over the world. Many of those guests turned into lifelong friends.

Linda was predeceased by her husband Joseph E. Johnston to whom she was married to for 41 years until the time of his death in 2008. Linda is survived by her devoted children: her son Richard P. D’Onofrio and his wife Joanne of Norton MA, her daughter Julie A. Goodwin of Stratham, NH and her son Christopher M. Johnston and his wife Michele of St. Augustine, FL. She leaves six cherished grandchildren: Tyler Goodwin and his wife Megan, Samantha E. Goodwin, Katie M. D’Onofrio, Richie P D’Onofrio, Emma G. Johnston, and Joey Johnston as well as her great-granddaughter: Ellie Goodwin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 19, 2023, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery, Summer St., Yarmouth Port, MA.
