Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Harris Halpert, 77, recently of Yarmouth Port, MA and a longtime former resident of Acton, MA passed away on May 23, 2023 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham, MA due to complications associated with Parkinson’s Disease.

Harris was born in Revere, MA to Joseph and Jenny Halpert on March 13 1946 as the second of two children. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics at MIT in 1968. He made his career in the defense industry in Massachusetts as an Engineer and later a Program Manager with Lockheed-Martin, and later at Raytheon as a Senior Program Manager. He traveled frequently, interacting with people all over the world. Harris and his wife Elizabeth married in 1974 and settled in Acton, raising 3 children and residing there for more than 30 years. Harris was well known as a coach for youth sports, especially baseball. Retiring in 2013, he moved to Yarmouth Port, MA where he enjoyed reading, watching the Red Sox, traveling, hiking the local beaches and boardwalks, eating seafood, hosting his adult children and grandchildren on their vacations, and generally enjoying life. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2013, he participated in the YMCA’s Peddling for Parkinson’s program and donating to charities focused on Parkinson’s research.

Harris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth, their daughter Kimberly and her husband Pater, his son Jonathan and his wife Kira, and his son Richard and his wife Leah, as well as his five grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister, Shifra Boudreau.

A celebration of Harris’ life will be held on August 5th at 11:00 AM at the Hallett Funeral Home in Yarmouth, the Reverend Kristen Harper of the Unitarian Church of Barnstable officiating. An informal reception for friends and family will be held directly after the service at his home in Yarmouth Port. In lieu of flowers or gifts, his family would prefer donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
