Aline Dennehy November 28, 1934-July 23, 2023 Aline Dennehy, 88, of South Dennis, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, July 23. Aline was reunited with her late husband of 60 years, William Dennehy. She was the youngest child of the late Ernest and Melina Renaud, and the sister to the late Constance, Rita, Norman, Ernest Jr, and Teresa.

Born and raised Catholic, she lived her life through the love of God. She grew up in Brockton and attended Sacred Heart and later Saint Patrick’s High School. She often would attend baseball games at the O’Donnell Field in Brockton with her cousin Joanne where she met the love of her life, William. When her children were young, she was a homemaker and later became the cafeteria manager for Brockton Public Schools. Her passion was cooking delicious meals for her family and teaching others how to cook. She enjoyed visiting her family’s Chalet on the weekends with her husband and four children in Rumney, NH. She took great pride in her home. Her husband often would tell the funny story of how she made the bed before he was ready to get up for the day. As the matriarch of her family, she was known as Memere or Chumsley, a nickname her husband gave her. Aline was a fierce, strong, independent woman who was loved by many.

She is survived by her three sons William Dennehy of Duxbury, Michael and his wife Jacqueline Dennehy of East Bridgewater, John and his wife Alice Dennehy from East Bridgewater, and her daughter Lisa and her husband Jeremiah Clifford from South Dennis. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, and Meaghan Kelley, and Megan, Brian, John, Patrick, and Daniel Dennehy. She adored her nine great-grandchildren Jace, Landon, Jameis, and Kadan Kelley, Aubrey Mallard, and Luke, Jack, Declan, and Clara Dennehy. Aline was eager to meet her newest great-grandchild due in the fall. She was so proud of all of her grandchildren and loved to brag about all of their accomplishments.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of her late brother, Ernest, and her daughter Lisa. The family will have a private memorial gathering as Aline wished.
