Marguerite N. Riker, 76, of South Yarmouth passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 12, 2023. Marguerite was born in Hackensack, NJ and was the eldest of three children born to William and Margery Roth. After spending a year as an exchange student at Copenhagen University and traveling around Europe, she returned and graduated from Patterson State University with a degree in education. She briefly taught at the Ramsey Elementary School and then left the classroom to raise eight children in Yarmouth, MA with her husband, Paul Riker.

Marguerite later returned to working in the retail industry as her children grew and refused to stop working until the COVID pandemic forced her to retire. She enjoyed visiting family and friends when traveling to Florida and Hilton Head, South Carolina each year. Each day after Christmas, she began her yearlong shopping process for the next year, as it was her favorite time of year, and it was important that she found something for everyone.

She loved baking, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. In her later years, she and Paul were usually found dancing on the weekends, right up until her last couple of years. Marguerite was fiercely proud of all her children, grandchildren, and got to meet her great-grandson before her passing. After celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary in 2021 her health steadily declined until her passing on Cape Cod.

She is survived by her husband, Paul R. Riker; her eight children, Melanie Riker Raposo, Edward “Ted” Riker, Seth Riker, Paul Riker, Jr., Adam Riker, Alexander Riker, Renee Riker, and Andrew Riker; 19 grandchildren, Keith, Austin, Tyler, Cole, Lily, Emma, Jacob, Sam, Willow, Mila, Liah, Ada, Marloe, Alexander “Lex”, Matthew “Matty”, Sophia, Robert, Adrian, and Coby; her great-grandson Christian; and her sibling Adrian Roth, and Russel Roth.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA 02664. Interment will take place at a later date.

We met Paul and Marguerite during their dancing years, and was fortunate to attend their 50th anniversary celebration and met the rest of the family. We understand why she was so proud of her family after that. We will never forget the conversations we had with Marguerite and watching this loving couple on the dance floor. We pray for strength for Paul and his wonderful family during this time. Dave and Terry
