Albert Eugene Lazarek Jr., 95, of Yarmouth Port, MA, passed peacefully away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on October 18, 2023. He was born February 25, 1928, at home on his family farm in Oswego, New York.  The ninth child of ten, he was the son of Polish immigrants, the late Albert Eugene and Catherine (Hajduk) Lazarek.

He attended school in Oswego and after graduation moved to Utica, NY before joining the U.S. Navy in 1946.  He served his country as a gunner’s mate onboard the USS Little Rock in World War II.  He was very proud of his service and told many stories of his travels sailing around the world.  He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal.  Using the GI Bill, he attended the Hemphill Diesel School in Long Island City, New York and became an exceptional mechanic, which served him all his life.  He owned and worked in his own garage for many years.  He married Elizabeth Ciszek on September 4,1954 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Utica, NY.  In 1964 he moved his family to Westborough, MA and was employed as a machinist at Worcester Stamped Metal, finishing his career at Continental Baking Company in Natick, MA, where he retired after twenty years.  Though Al and Liz always considered Massachusetts their home, post-retirement they moved to Florida to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation.  He was a quiet, kind and clever man who faithfully provided for his family and in his last twelve years moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to them.  He was a parishioner of Saint Pius X Roman Catholic Church in South Yarmouth, MA.

Besides his beloved wife, he leaves three sons and four daughters: Albert Eugene III of NJ , Andrew of Portland, OR, Andrea and her husband Richard Harrington of Sandwich, MA, Amy and her husband Frederick Stone of Kendall, NY, Brenda CVitan and Andrew Colella of Marstons Mills, MA, Christopher and his wife Nicole Lazarek of Sutton, MA and Donna and her husband George Kostopoulos of Chapmansboro, TN.  He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by five brothers:  John, Joseph, Michael, Henry, Walter and four sisters: Stephanie Janicke, Helen Check, Mary Misiaszek, and Sophie Gutt.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join together for visitation on Wednesday, October 25 from 4:00-6:00pm at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 26 at 10:00am at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.  Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA to follow at 1:15pm.

Flowers may be sent to Hallett Funeral Home 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA 02664 or donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 385 Watervliet Shaker Rd. Latham, NY 12110.

The Lazarek Family would like to thank the kind services of the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod and Hospice.
