SOUTH DENNIS - David P. Cayton, 75 of South Dennis, MA passed away on January 1, 2024. He was born on December 12, 1948 in Taunton, MA to the late Edward L. Cayton, Sr. and Avis T. (White) Cayton.

David was a loving husband, father, Papi, brother, and friend to many. He was a jack-of-all-trades, earning him the nickname "MacGyver" for his ability to fix anything and everything. He had a heart full of love for his family and friends and always brought joy to those around him with his sense of humor and jokes. David was a hardworking man who enjoyed helping others. He had a passion for classic cars and loved attending car shows. His family will cherish the memories of their vacations together, where David would push his grandkids around in strollers during long walks collecting seashells.

David is survived by his loving wife Cindy, his two sons, Eric and Todd, and their wives, Kristin and Melanie, respectively. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan, Jason, and Jenna. David is also survived by his seven siblings, Avis Carter, Edward Cayton and his wife Donna, George Cayton and his wife Joan, Cindy Hackett, Timothy Cayton and his wife Kathy, Lisa Botelho and her husband Stephen, and Martha Brigham and her husband Lee.

David received his education from Taunton public schools and later attended trade school. He went on to become a union member of IBEW local 223, where he worked as an electrical contractor. David owned his own business for many years, operating along the east coast.

In addition to his successful career, David served in the Army Reserves, where he showcased his dedication and commitment to his country.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stoney Brook Rd., Brewster, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Family Support Group of Cape Cod or to a charity of one’s choice in David's name.

David will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing.
