Warren Alfred Messner

Messner, Warren Alfred of Cotuit passed away on March 28, 2024 at the age of 93. Warren was born in Springfield, MA to Alfred L. and Edith (Melhorne) Messner.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Marion Charlotte (Roberts) Messner and his children, Warren Messner of Holly Hill, FL, Steven Messner of Ormond Beach, FL and Julie Kromka of Daytona Beach, FL as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. He wishes them well and thanks them for all their kindness.
 
Warren became a Civil Air Patrol Cadet during his high school years at Tech, then received his regular Army commission upon graduation with a BSME from Norwich University in 1952. He served in Korea during the final days of the War returning to take an engineering position with General Electric and then sales and sales management during his twenty year career with GE at various defense operations before becoming Career Center Director at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, working for Brunswick Defense Division and also owning his own floor and window covering business in Holly Hill, FL.
 
He loved soaring and owned two sailplanes accumulating 400 hours of soaring flight plus a 32,000 ft. flight over Pikes Peak.  A total of 1000 hours and a commercial license in some 17 types of airplanes were his enjoyment along with some thirty years of RVing throughout the United States including Alaska as well as Germany and France.
 
An avid reader, he also published two books about the Bell P-39 Airacobra after some eight years of research.
 
A graveside service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA on Tuesday,  April 2, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. with military honors.
