Gloria Angela ”GiGi” (Carbone) Gorman, 96 of South Yarmouth, MA passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025 at Cape Cod Hospital.

Gloria was born in Cambridge, MA to Ella Louise (Gaston)(Carbone) Connolly and Alfred Carbone on May 15, 1928. She grew up on Sherman Street, Cambridge in an enclave of aunts, uncles and cousins. She attended Saint Peter’s grammar school and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School, class of 1946.

Gloria went to work for New England Telephone right out of high school, where she worked as a telephone operator for 35 years. During this time she met her beloved husband Frank and eventually settled in Arlington, where she raised 2 children, Ken and Karen.

In retirement, they enjoyed going on cruises, spending winters in Florida until his passing in 1994.

Gloria moved to South Yarmouth in 2014. She was her happiest when spending time with her great grandson Tommy Putney, and hearing about his hockey exploits. She was thrilled being able to connect with her granddaughters, Lisa and Kristen. An ardent animal lover, she loved living on Cape Cod and being surrounded by her furry friends.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Karen Gorman and her life partner Arthur O’Brien, granddaughter Lisa Putney, her husband Tim Putney, and their son Tommy Putney of Carver, MA, granddaughter Kristen Gorman and her mother, Cathy Gorman of Durham, NC.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Frank Gorman, in 1994, a WWII veteran and lifelong Cambridge policeman, and the sudden passing of her son, Ken Gorman, of Durham, NC in 2024.

  Funeral services will be held at Hallett Funeral home, 273 Station Avenue South Yarmouth, MA on Saturday March 15, 2025, visiting hours from 2-4, followed by a prayer service at 4.
