Patricia Casey
Jun 11th, 2025
Patricia (Tricia) Casey, a devoted wife and mother, a compassionate nurse, and an ardent gardener, passed away on June 11, 2025, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, following a head injury from a fall. She was 68 years old.
Tricia’s greatest joy was her family. She was married for 32 years to her best friend and husband, David A. Ricker. She was a loving mother to her elder son, Connor Casey Gramazio, and his wife, Tina Wu, and to her younger son, Michael Casey Ricker, and his wife, Sabrinna Fogarty. Tricia was a beloved sister to four siblings: Maureen, Kathleen, Brian, and John. She was predeceased by her parents, Frances and John B. Casey. She will also be deeply missed by her extended family, many dear friends, and her faithful border collie.
Born in Waltham, MA, Tricia moved to Cape Cod and was a graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with honors from Tufts University. Later, she completed the Nursing Program at Cape Cod Community College and became a Licensed Registered Nurse. She devoted 28 years of service to Cape Cod Hospital, where she helped to open the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and made a lasting impact in the mental health field, providing compassionate care to both adolescents and adults. Tricia was recognized for her nursing excellence with the Clara Barton Award. She also served as a Mass Nursing Association Representative. A frequent charge nurse on the unit, she was known among colleagues for her fierce advocacy for both patients and staff.
Tricia’s passion for gardening was as deep as her commitment to healing. A certified Master Gardener, she cultivated organic flower and vegetable gardens, specializing in dahlias and roses. Her yard featured greenhouses, a koi pond, and numerous bird-feeding stations. This year, a pair of bluebirds nested nearby. She generously shared her knowledge by volunteering at Master Gardener sales, helplines, and local middle schools, where she taught plant propagation techniques.
Tricia found deep joy and a spiritual connection in nature, often walking with her husband or close friends along the north side of Route 6A or through the quiet beauty of local cranberry bogs. Among all her travels, Ireland—the homeland of her ancestors—held a special place in her heart.
The family will hold a private ceremony.
In honor of Tricia’s life and legacy, the family invites donations to a charity of one’s choice.
