Mary-Margaret Rose, 77, died at Cape Cod Hospital on June 24. Mary was a resident of South Yarmouth, MA.
Mary-Margaret graduated from Bishop Stang High School in1966 and entered the Sisters of Notre Dame for 3 years.
She graduated from Cardinal Cushing College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Miss Rose taught at Sacred Heart School in Roslindale, MA from 1972-2008. There she taught first grade, sixth grade, and enriched reading.
She received her master’s degree in Catholic School Leadership from Boston College in 1991 and went on to win the NCEA Teacher of the Year Award in 1996. Mary-Margaret was certified in the Wilson Reading Program in 1995. Miss Rose taught at Gate of Heaven Elementary School, South Boston, MA from 2009 to 2011 and served as Paraeducator in Brookline Public Schools from 2011 – 2013. Mary-Margaret volunteered her expertise as a Teacher Aide in the AARP Foundation Experience Corps in Jamaica Plain from 2015 – 2020.
Devoted to her faith, Mary-Margaret taught CCD in grades and parishes too numerous to mention.
Mary-Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Albert S. Rose Jr. and Patricia Rose Brunell and her brothers, Christopher J. Rose and James M. Rose. She is survived by her brothers, William P. Rose of South Yarmouth, Thomas Rose and his wife Martha, of Newport, RI along with nieces, Erin Rose, Rebecca Rose Nolan, and her nephew Brian Rose.
She enjoyed traveling; her trips led to destinations including Israel, England, Scotland, Ireland, Bermuda, and Italy as well as many places in the U.S.
She fought a brave battle against cancer, optimistic and faithful until the end.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. A private burial will be held at Saint John’s Cemetery in Worcester, MA.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society in Mary-Margaret’s name.
