Susan Ruth (Piper) Peschier, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, Sue grew up in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School before attending the Chandler School for Women in Boston.

In 1965, she married her childhood sweetheart, John Peschier. Together, they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and shared adventure. As a devoted Air Force wife, Sue embraced a life of travel and change, living across the U.S. and overseas—including Austin, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Bourne, MA; Belleville, IL; Montgomery, AL; Rome, NY; Heidelberg, Germany; and Omaha, NE. After John’s retirement, they settled in Alexandria, VA; Bonita Springs, FL; and finally Yarmouth, MA, where they enjoyed their later years surrounded by family and friends.

No matter where life took her, Sue had a gift for making every house a home and every community feel like family. Through her work as a church administrator and her involvement in Wives Clubs, she built lasting friendships.

Sue lived with energy and joy. She loved golf, volunteering, crafting, travel, shopping, and especially cooking—her “Peschier delights” were legendary. But her greatest joy was being “Nanny” to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her radiant smile and her ability to light up a room.

Sue is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lt. Col. (Ret.) John Peschier Jr., USAF; her children, John Peschier and his wife Christine, and Jill Sullivan and her husband Brian; her grandchildren: Brett Sullivan and his wife Anna, Mary Sullivan, and Hannah and Emily Peschier; and her niece and nephew, Julie Frye and Fred Murray, and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents, Barney and Helen (Follansbee) Piper, and her sister and best friend, Gail (Piper) Murray.

A service honoring Sue’s life will take place at South Yarmouth Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery and concluding with a Celebration of Life. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.

The family extends special thanks to the aides and nurses at Keystone Place in Buzzards Bay, MA, and to Beacon Hospice, whose care and compassion meant the world to Sue and her family. They were her angels here on earth.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Sue’s memory by thanking a Veteran or supporting a Veterans group or Alzheimer’s organization.
