It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Mackay, who departed this life on August 15, 2025, at the age of 90. Bob was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend whose kindness and strength touched all who knew him.
Born to Andrew and Ruth Mackay on October 23, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, where Bob grew up, he then moved to Long Island and raised his family. Bob moved to North Carolina in 1997 to enjoy retirement on Lake Gaston, then moved back north to Cape Cod to spend more time with family. Over the course of his life, he built a career in sales and was admired for his work ethic and integrity. Beyond his work, Bob was devoted to his family, always making sure his family was safe and happy.
Bob is survived by his wife Trudy Mackay, his children and their spouses Robert and Diane Mackay, Stacy and Steve O’Keefe, and Kelli and John Antinora, his 6 grandchildren Emily, Joseph, Jamie, Karly, Elizibeth and Giovanni and 3 great-grandchildren Evie, Noah and Jacob who will forever cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia, his brothers' Jimmy and Andrew (Sonny).
Those who knew Bob will remember his sense of humor, generosity, love of being outdoors and fishing, spending every moment he could loving and protecting his family and, of course, his chili along with all the great parties in Deer Park, NY. His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the countless lives he influenced.
A memorial service will be held on September 11, 2025 - St. Anthony of Padua Church, East Northport, NY. Bob will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
