Dorothy Ann (Beliveau) Footer of West Yarmouth, passed away at her home on September 10^th, 2025 at the age of 87.
 
Born in Keene, NH, she was the only child of Oneida and Sophie Beliveau. When her father died of heart disease when she was 16, Dottie decided to pursue a career in nursing and so, after high school, she set out for Boston to attend school and become a Registered Nurse.
 
She had a fine time in Boston in the late ’50’s and early ’60’s.  She made lots of friends and met her husband-to-be, Jim Footer. As they built their life together with their children, Melanie, Jimmy and Ed, their free time and vacations were always spent on or near the ocean, usually ‘potting around’ on various cabin cruisers with the kids. As empty nesters they continued their adventures by chartering cruises in the Bahamas.
 
Dottie was an avid gardener and reader of novels, but also really loved being a nurse. She was a nursing supervisor at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester and at Cape Cod Hospital, but preferred working directly with patients, which is what she spent the later years of her 50-plus years of nursing career doing.
 
She was warm, caring, curious and laughed a lot and easily. She was a great Mom, and a fun person to pal around with!
 
She is predeceased by her husband Jim and her son Edward, of Chatham. She leaves behind her daughter Melanie of Milton and son James of Chatham as well as many dear friends and extended family.
 
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at 10:00 a.m. on October 4, 2025 at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
