Kimberly A. Riley (nee Lund) age 66 Yarmouth Port

In the words of The Salvation Army, Kimberly A. Riley was “Promoted to Glory” on September 14, 2025 after a lifetime of service to others.
A devoted and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she was always behind the scenes supporting her family. Whether her husband’s career, their sons’ endeavors, or their grandchildren’s activities, she was always there cheering them on.

A graduate of Jamestown High School (NY), Kim was an outstanding musician performing on the euphonium. She went on to study music education at SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music.  Besides meeting her future husband, a particular highlight was performing in the ceremony band at the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid.  She performed at numerous medal ceremonies including the awarding of the gold medal to the US Men’s Hockey Team, the “Miracle on Ice”.  She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota professional women’s fraternity and served as President as well as other leadership roles.

Following college and her marriage, Kim pursued a career in social work.  She was the Director of Domestic Violence Services for the Jamestown NY Corps of The Salvation Army before moving to Cape Cod where she took on the role of Director of Social Ministries at the Hyannis Corps, a position she held for more than 25 years.  During that time, she assisted thousands of individuals and families in need of food, housing, and many other services.  She was the driving force behind the “Dress A Live Doll” program at Christmas time making sure that hundreds of children each year were sponsored to receive a complete set of clothes “from top to bottom and inside and out”.
Kim was an active member of her church and community organizations while her sons were growing up in Jamestown, NY.  She took leadership positions in their school PTOs, taught Sunday School for many years at the Salvation Army Jamestown Corps, and supported many fundraisers and events for the scouting and musical groups to which they belonged.  Upon moving to Cape Cod, she continued to support her sons’ musical achievements through her many years of involvement with the D-Y Band Parents, especially helping to run Bingo and chaperoning nearly all their trips.

When Kim was not busy caring for others, she loved to travel.  She enjoyed going on cruises to the Caribbean and Mediterranean.  These getaways became an annual tradition for her and her husband after the busy holiday season.  One of her most memorable trips was going to India to visit a school that was built with the support of the Rotary Club of Yarmouth.

Kim is survived by her husband of 45 years, Michael, their sons: Patrick (Stephanie) of Dennis and Steven (Rose) of Marquette MI, her mother Yole Lund and sisters Karin Weikart and Ellen Lund all of Jamestown NY, and grandchildren Moira, Marnie, Myles, and Micah.  She was predeceased by her father Berger Lund and brother Timothy Lund.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm with a prayer service at 4 pm on Monday, October 13, at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Salvation Army, PO Box 369, Hyannis MA 02601 or a charity of one’s choice.
