Gerald C. Connors, 89, of North Naples, FL, formerly of Ayer and Maynard, MA, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, due to complications from a recent stroke. Born in Concord, Massachusetts, on September 30, 1936, he was the son of the late Raymond and Helen (Nee) Connors and one of three siblings. He was born and raised in Maynard, MA, and graduated from Maynard High School in 1954.
After high school, Jerry served in the U.S. Army, and he was stationed in South Korea. In 1959 Gerald married Sandra R. Gunn of Maynard, MA. where they settled and raised their four children. After serving his country, Jerry worked in a variety of jobs before embarking on his 27-year career with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in Maynard, MA., where he earned the nickname “Jerry the Mailman” out of respect for his commitment and reliability in serving the residents of his route. Shortly after his retirement from the U.S.P.S. he took on one more role, this time serving the senior center community at Newbury Court in Concord, MA. as their chauffeur. In October of 2006 the Newbury Court community awarded him the Heart and Hands award for being the “chauffeur extraordinaire”.
In April 2000, Jerry married Lorraine Heroux. They settled in Ayer, MA, and later relocated to North Naples, FL, where they shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life filled with faith, love, laughter, and family.
Jerry was known for his strong work ethic, professionalism, kindness, and great sense of humor. Outside of work, he enjoyed practicing his faith, spending time with his wife, Lorraine, and traveling. He especially loved visits with his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine; his sons Michael (Christine) Connors of Delray Beach, FL, Daniel (Erin) Connors of Valencia, CA and Timothy Connors of Maynard, MA.; five grandchildren Ian, Brendan (Akirta), Brian Connors and Madison and Nicholas Connors; great granddaughter Elara Connors; Lorraine’s son Joshua Hydeman; brothers John (Jack) Connors of Bellingham, WA, and Raymond Connors of San Mateo, CA. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Helen Connors, son Kevin Connors and Lorraine’s son Jonathan Hydeman.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday October 15th at 11 am at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Rd, Brewster, MA 02631. Private burial services will be held on Thursday October 16th at 10:15 am at Massachusetts National Cemetery on Connery Ave. Bourne, MA 02532.

Your Dad would always catch us in some conundrum on the street and we would freeze….until he smiled that beautiful grin and then we knew we were ok:). He was home earlier than all the Dads on the street with his route. And even if we were in a pickle, we knew he was the only one we could get out of it with! A simple “Mr. Connor’s, please don’t tell” and a smile most times got us through! :) I am so very sorry for your loss. It is a very difficult one for all of you. Having families makes it all the more difficult and seemingly better at the same time. Our “Lincoln Street” thoughts and hearts are with you all. Always, Trish Chambers
Dear Lorraine and Jerry’s and your family: Jim and I are so shocked and sad at Jerry’s passing! We know he has gone to his home in heaven.and God said “Welcome home good and faithful servant “.Being friends for all your married life and before leaves us with a giant hole in our life. Lorraine this is going to be so hard as your marriage was one that some never experience , one of deep love, sharing as one and interwoven in every moment of your day with God by your side.
