Scott Munro Ober
Oct 11th, 2025
In Loving Memory of Scott Munro Ober Scott Munro Ober, age 64, of West Yarmouth, MA passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a brief and brave battle with cancer.
Scott is survived by the love of his life, Stacey Owen Ober; his daughter Kate Martin and her husband Sean; grandsons Callan (“Cal”) and Griffin Martin; his mother Virginia Ober; his sister Marney and her partner Dean Daugharthy, sister-in-law Cindy Mueller and her husband Brian Mueller, sister-in-law Noreen Owen Chick, cherished friends Gloria and Michael Craven along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Ober.
Scott was born on September 20, 1961 and grew up in Wayland, graduated from UMass Amherst and was a lifelong resident of Massachusetts, most recently spending many happy years on Cape Cod.
Scott worked hard his entire life, building a career defined by loyalty, dedication, and strong relationships. For nearly two decades, he proudly served as a supervisor with the federal government, where he was respected not only for his commitment to his work but also for his kindness, humor, and steady presence.
Scott was deeply proud to be a leader who cared about people. He believed leadership was about showing up, about listening, supporting, and advocating. He ensured others knew they mattered to him, and that loyalty and respect were never one-way streets.
Scott had a deep love for music and movies and could quote nearly any film he’d ever seen. He believed, like Bruce Springsteen, that “the best music is essentially there to provide you something to face the world with.” He had a gift for finding meaning in a lyric or a line and sharing it with those he loved.
Scott also developed a love for cooking. In fact, Scott went from asking how to bake a potato to mastering the perfectly cooked turkey on Thanksgiving - his favorite holiday.
Scott loved traveling and trying new things with Stacey, happily going along on all of her adventurous plans. Whether it was a new place, a spontaneous activity, or simply time spent exploring together, he embraced it all.
He also found joy in simple pleasures: golfing on a nice day, breathing in the salt air on the boat, casting a line out on the water, listening to a good song, sharing a meal with family, playing ball with his bulldogs or making his grandsons smile. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Being “Papa” was one of the greatest honors of his life.
Scott’s strength, humor, generosity, and love leave an imprint on the lives he touched. He faced his final days with courage and grace, the same way he lived his life.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00p at Hallett Funeral Home, South Yarmouth, MA where loved ones will gather to share memories and honor the wonderful man he was.
In lieu of flowers, our family invites those who wish to honor Scott’s life to consider a donation to Hardcore Connections Inc., founded by his nephew Gerald Randall, of whom he was deeply proud. The organization is dedicated to helping individuals and families build healthier lives through innovative, judgment-free recovery support. Supporting this cause is a meaningful way to carry forward the spirit of care, resilience, and second chances that mattered deeply to Scott. https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/3406b41c-1ee4-4b0c-a35c-008e26e5621a

I am shocked and saddened by Scott’s passing. I enjoyed his guidance and friendship at HYA. I wake up so the sound of music, Mother Mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom Let it Be. RIP Scott.
I grew up with OB. Marney was my friend. OB was Andy’s best friend. One day, OB, was in the truck enroute to work. He told me he loved his life! He looked at drivers in other cars and they all looked so unhappy. He thought he was the luckiest guy on earth cause he drove around , worked with his friend, and listened to music all day. Apparently the joy and music stayed with him! Blessed! BON voyage…I’m sure the music is even better up there.
Katie and family, We offer our deepest condolences on your loss. Scott was a wonderful person, and good father . Kate all our love and prayers are with you at this difficult time
Brother, you will be forever loved, forever missed and forever young. Love you so much.
