Carol R. Finley
Oct 12th, 2025
Carol R. Finley, 97, of Chatham, MA, passed away peacefully to her Savior Jesus on October 12, 2025.
Born in 1928 in Illinois to George and Edith Bryant, Carol lived much of her life in Indiana. In 1949, she graduated from Butler University with a degree in Journalism. On July 9, 1949, she married Lawrence “Larry” Finley, her husband of 68 years. Together they raised 4 children: Marsha Finley, Jim Finley, David Finley and Misty (Finley) Wade. They welcomed into their home foster daughter June Nessler.
In addition to homemaking, Carol worked during the 1970s as writer, photographer and editor of their hometown newspaper, “The Zionsville Times”. She drove for Meals on Wheels and had multiple volunteer roles at the Zionsville United Methodist Church. It was through the “Lay Witness Mission” there that Carol and Larry first gave their hearts and lives to Christ and in gratitude became active “Lay Witness” participants themselves.
Upon retirement in the 1980s, she and Larry moved to Brewster, MA. They became faithful members of Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church, growing in their Christian faith and encouraging others to do the same. Carol especially delighted in teaching women’s Bible studies.
She cherished sharing her love for the natural beauty of Cape Cod with friends and family. Providing the perfect vacation spot for her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren was an undeniable joy.
A Memorial Service and light repast meal to celebrate her life and faith will be held on Saturday, November 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church, 3600 Main Street Brewster, MA 02631.
