Mary A. Smith, 98, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on November 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted Christian woman whose faith guided her every step, Mary lived a long, full, and grace filled life.

Mary was born in 1927 and is survived by her children; William O. Smith, III and his wife Karen, Mark A. Smith, Kent R. Smith and his wife Christine, Lynn M. Marlow and her husband Thomas “Pete”, Gail M. Smith, Jill L. Conway and her husband Bob, and Sherri A. Smith; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Monica (Tomko) Mazik, Andrew L. Tomko, and Kathleen Tomko.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Mary married the love of her life, Bill Smith, a dedicated watchmaker and teacher. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and steadfast love. Mary and Bill raised seven children, teaching them the values of kindness, hard work, and faith. Their partnership was a testament to enduring devotion and quiet strength.

Mary found joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments. She loved watching fresh snow fall across the yard and spent many peaceful hours admiring the birds that visited her window. These gentle joys reflected her own spirit, calm, observant, and full of quiet wonder.

A proud matriarch, Mary was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy. She treasured family gatherings, sharing stories from long ago and offering a listening ear and heartfelt encouragement to every member of her growing family.

Mary will be remembered for her kindness, her steady faith, and the unwavering love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and in the countless lives she touched with her gentle presence.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Bill; an infant daughter, Mary; grandson Joshua Smith; daughter-in-law, Sandy (Bridges) Smith; and by her parents, Andrew and Anna (Vasko) Tomko; and siblings Daniel Tomko, Rita (Tomko) Marino, and David Tomko.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. A celebration of Mary’s life will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, where family and friends will gather to honor a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
