Spiros John Thomas
Nov 17th, 2025
Spiros “Sonny” Thomas, 83, of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on November 17, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Spiros lived each day with kindness, humility, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him.
Born on March 11, 1942, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to Koula & John Thomas, Spiros grew up surrounded by a strong sense of family and community. He shared many close bonds with his brothers William Thomas of Dennis MA, Paul Thomas of Dracut MA, and James Thomas of Tewksbury MA, relationships he cherished throughout his life. Spiros’s dedication to learning and personal growth guided much of his life journey. He pursued a rewarding career as a pharmacist, spending over three decades as Director of Pharmacy at Cape Cod Hospital —a profession that allowed him to help others and form lasting connections. He later expanded his professional life by earning a master’s in business from Suffolk University and becoming a real estate broker.
On January 6, 1969, Spiros married the love of his life, Carolyn Wooldridge of New Bedford MA, beginning a partnership that spanned 56 joyful years. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and deep devotion to their two sons, Peter Thomas of Forestdale MA and David Thomas of Norfolk MA. To them, Spiros was more than a father—he was a role model, mentor, and constant source of wisdom. His greatest pride and joy, however, came from his four grandchildren Ethan Thomas of Waltham, MA, Emma Thomas of Norfolk MA, Kyra Thomas of Plymouth MA, and Connor Thomas of Norfolk MA , with whom he shared countless memories and who will forever carry his spirit forward. He couldn’t have been more happy gaining two daughters when David married Diane Nealon of Norfolk MA and Peter married Sue Thomas of Forestdale MA. He is also survived by his sister in laws Helen Grassi of Plymouth MA and Virginia Thomas of Tewksbury MA, His joy of being a dad, a Papou, and a husband could be seen by everyone.
Spiros led a full and vibrant life, sharing his time between his work, his passions, and the people he loved. Carolyn and Spiros’s love of the Cape brought them to East Dennis, Ma. He was a member of Dennis Pines and Highlands golf courses and was especially proud to join the Cummaquid Golf Club. Golf was a favorite pastime, as were his fantasy football team with Ethan, lunch outings with his brother Bill and cousin Charlie, weekly chats with ‘Cassini”, and gatherings with so many friends over coffee, lunch or celebrating all their birthdays. Another passion that he shared with his brother Bill was their vegetable gardens. His ability to listen, offer warmth, and make others feel valued was his quiet superpower—one that left an enduring mark on everyone he met.
A celebration of Spiros’s life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Hallet Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave South Yarmouth, MA from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service and remembrance from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Taylor Bray Farm in Yarmouth Port, MA, a place Spiros loved sharing with his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren. www.taylorbrayfarm.org
