Spiros “Sonny” Thomas, 83, of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on November 17, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Spiros lived each day with kindness, humility, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him.

Born on March 11, 1942, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to Koula & John Thomas, Spiros grew up surrounded by a strong sense of family and community. He shared many close bonds with his brothers: William Thomas of Dennis, MA, Paul Thomas of Dracut, MA, and James Thomas of Tewksbury, MA, relationships he cherished throughout his life. Spiros’s dedication to learning and personal growth guided much of his life's journey. He pursued a rewarding career as a pharmacist, spending over three decades as Director of Pharmacy at Cape Cod Hospital, a profession that allowed him to help others and form lasting connections. He later expanded his professional life by earning a Master's Degree in business from Suffolk University and becoming a real estate broker.

On January 6, 1969, Spiros married the love of his life, Carolyn Wooldridge of New Bedford MA, beginning a partnership that spanned 56 joyful years. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and deep devotion to their two sons, Peter Thomas of Forestdale, MA and David Thomas of Norfolk, MA. To them, Spiros was more than a father. He was a role model, mentor, and constant source of wisdom. His greatest pride and joy, however, came from his four grandchildren: Ethan Thomas of Waltham, MA, Emma Thomas of Norfolk, MA, Kyra Thomas of Plymouth, MA, and Connor Thomas of Norfolk, MA , with whom he shared countless memories and who will forever carry his spirit forward. He couldn’t have been more happy gaining two daughters when David married Diane Nealon of Norfolk, MA and Peter married Sue Thomas of Forestdale, MA. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Helen Grassi of Plymouth, MA and Virginia Thomas of Tewksbury, MA, His joy of being a Dad, a Papou, and a husband could be seen by everyone.

Spiros led a full and vibrant life, sharing his time between his work, his passions, and the people he loved. Carolyn and Spiros’s love of the Cape brought them to East Dennis, MA. He was a member of Dennis Pines and Highlands Golf Courses and was especially proud to join the Cummaquid Golf Club. Golf was a favorite pastime, as were his fantasy football team with Ethan, lunch outings with his brother Bill and cousin Charlie, weekly chats with ‘Cassini”, and gatherings with so many friends over coffee, lunch or celebrating all their birthdays. Another passion that he shared with his brother Bill was their vegetable gardens. His ability to listen, offer warmth, and make others feel valued was his quiet superpower, one that left an enduring mark on everyone he met.

A celebration of Spiros’ life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a service and remembrance from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Taylor Bray Farm in Yarmouth Port, MA; a place Spiros loved sharing with his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren. www.taylorbrayfarm.org

Husband, Papou, and Dad, we loved you so much. What you brought to our lives cannot be put into words. You will forever be part of our hearts.

I was 18 when I first met Spiros as an NU Pharmacy student interviewing for a co-op position. I am now a 71 year old grandmother. He and Carolyn were at John's and my wedding, and the four of us have shared so much joy throughout the years. Many of our conversations were about our grandchildren. Spiros loved sharing stories about Ethan, Emma, Kyra, and Connor. It was obvious how special they were to him. I hope they can read all these tributes to see how special their grandfather was to so many of us who worked and played with him. through the years. I was thinking of my last conversation with him about a month ago. Usually we talked about our current lives, but I wanted him to know what an innovative force he was at the Deaconess. I highlighted all his "top hits: for him, and he added more fascinating details. Institutional change is often difficult, but Spiros knew what the pharmacy profession needed, and he had the creativity and charm to make things happen. He made genuine friendships with everyone who worked at the hospital. He brought the pharmacy out of the basement and onto patient floors. He gave so many of us pharmacists opportunities that we would not have had elsewhere. He always projected confidence and security. He would listen to any complaint or suggestion (I know firsthand). He was ALWAYS fun. I remember telling him that I learned more about countries than I ever knew because he hired people of all nationalities, religions, and colors. Spiros loved people. All of this made him a wonderful "boss," a dear and genuine friend, and, without a doubt, an exceptional grandfather, father, and husband. I will miss our talks, walks, and laughter. John and I send our love to Carolyn and his precious family.

I always enjoyed the times Spiros and I got to talk about our back to back properties on Silverleaf and Camelot in Dennis and real estate in general since we had similar professions. We hope his family continue that close relationship going forward. Please accept Jane and my heartfeelt condolences.

I first met Spiros (commonly known as the Silver Fox) during my pharmacy infancy at New England Deaconess Hospital (which is now part of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center). Not only was he our mentor, but also he was one of the Godfathers of modern day hospital pharmacy practices. Our acquaintance was beyond professional, but also was a long-time big brother. His Seasons' Greeting Card always arrived right after Thanksgiving. I shall miss such reminder of the beginning of a holiday season. However, his contagiously genuine smile will remain in all of our hearts. R.I.P. Spiros! Our condolences to the Thomas' Family! Love! Yu C Choi & Carmella

Many great memories of Spiros Some of my best years were spent at the Deaconess, where I carry many fond memories. Spiros gave me the opportunity to remain as a pharmacy messenger and pharmacy technician as a MCPHS pharmacy student, enabling me to support myself and continue paying college tuition. We shared times that were not only educational, but also amusing, humorous, entertaining, and deeply enriching. His guidance and generosity was helpful and supportive. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Rest in peace Spiros. Our condolences to Spiro’s family. Fast and Carolyn B
