Carolyn “Lyn” (Crowell) Kent, 91, of Yarmouth Port, MA, passed away peacefully at Cape Cod Hospital on January 8, 2026.
Lyn was born on October 15, 1934 to parents, Frank and Josephine.  In 1957 she met her husband, Daniel “Dan” Kent on a Thanksgiving-time Norwegian Cruise.  The two married on February 22, 1958 and were married 66 years until Dan’s passing in 2024. Dan and Lyn had three wonderful children together: Lisa, Daniel (“Danny”), and Karyn.

The two raised their children in Framingham, MA where Lyn kept busy as a homemaker.  After their children were grown, Dan and Lyn moved to Cape Cod, first to Cummaquid, and later to Yarmouth Port, MA where they lived for more than 30 years.

Lyn was an accomplished seamstress – she loved sewing, quilting, knitting and was known for her handmade gifts, especially the American Girl Doll clothes she sewed for her granddaughters. Lyn also enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking.  She hosted many family holidays at their Yarmouth Port home and though she had a long list of wonderful foods she would cook, she was famous, among the children especially, for her mashed potatoes and dinner rolls.

While living on Cape Cod Lyn worked part time at Sophisticated Fabrics and later at A&P (Shaws) as a cake decorator.  She loved being with friends, especially her long-time friend Priscilla, as well as reading in her spare time.  Lyn was known for being both no-nonsense and also extremely kind – she loved her family tremendously.

After her husband’s passing, Lyn moved to Brookdale Senior Living in Hyannis where she met new friends and rediscovered old hobbies during the last few months of her life.  Our family is very grateful for the care she received during her time there.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Finlay and Karyn Eldredge; son-in-law Jamie Eldredge; daughter-in-law Cindy Kent; grandchildren Kerri Finlay Mulhern, Matthew Kent, Nicole Stefanowicz, Olivia Eldredge, and Sophie Eldredge; great-grandchildren Matthew, Sarah, Patrick, Calliope, and Will. Lyn was predeceased by her son, Daniel M. Kent in 2021, son-in-law Richard L. Finlay in 2022, and her husband Daniel Kent in 2024.
