Carmella E. Sclafani, age 92, of Hollywood, Florida, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Scarborough, Maine. Carmella was born in Everett, Massachusetts, on January 20, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Phyllis (Colorusso) LaRosa of Everett, Massachusetts.

Carmella was raised in Everett, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1952. She was affectionately known in High School by her nickname “Chickee”. While raising her family and residing in Malden, Massachusetts, in the early 1960’s, she was a valued leader for Tupperware, successfully managing a team and, later in the early 1970’s, as a bookkeeper running the office for the Fred Shohet company that provided varied Wilsonart products. In 1973, Carmella and her family relocated to Peabody, Massachusetts, and resided there for over twenty years, with a second residence in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts.

During her retirement years, she finally chose to reside “snowbird style” between Hollywood, Florida, and Cape Cod with her long-time late companion Anthony “Tony” Cincotta of Wareham, Massachusetts, always flying back north for Christmas with family. Tony would often greet visitors to Florida with “welcome to paradise” due to the usually warm climate with no snow or cold.

Carmella’s greatest joys were being the anchor of her family, happily hosting family and friends with her outgoing personality, welcoming nature, and enormous amounts of food, especially her best-ever Italian “gravy” recipes. She surprised no one with her innate lifelong ability to often make new friends at any time and at any place, even when waiting in line with strangers. She enjoyed many activities with family and friends, including traveling, bowling leagues, golfing, and really any activity with her grandchildren. One of her claims to fame was her expertise in board games, such as Scrabble and Rummikub. Even as recently as last month, she was tough to beat, and it was always a great accomplishment and fun to tease her on rare occasions when she didn’t win. Those games with her will be greatly missed and will never be the same again.

Carmella was the beloved wife of over forty years with her late husband, Charles J. Sclafani of Peabody, Massachusetts. She was the loving mother of Charles J. Sclafani, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Southwick, Massachusetts, Marie Sclafani and her husband Jason of Waterboro, Maine, and Elaine Sclafani and her husband David of Wells, Maine. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Alex Cotto of Chelsea, Massachusetts. She was the sister of the late Olympia Addonizio and her late husband Nicholas of Hollywood, Florida, her brother the late Anthony LaRosa and his wife Joyce of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, and the late Rose Sanderson of Texas. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Joseph Sclafani and his fiancé Abby of Westfield, Massachusetts, Jarrod Sclafani and his fiancé Hailey of Yarmouth, Massachusetts, Charles J. Sclafani, III and his fiancé Rachael of Boston, Massachusetts, Rachael Warren and her husband Jacob of Gorham, Maine, Eric Tulipano and his wife Holly of Pembroke, NH, Danielle Tulipano of Medford, Massachusetts, and Amber and Aiden Cotto of Peabody, Massachusetts. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Roman and Adaline Tulipano.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 30, 2026 from 5-7:30 pm and from 9:00- 10:30 am on Saturday at the Hallett Funeral Home , 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA 02660. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Saint Pius X Church on Saturday January 31 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery.
