Philip Levine

Philip Levine, 99, of Kingston passed away on March 1, 2026. His parents emigrated from Eastern Europe, and he grew up on farms in Ellington and Bloomfield Connecticut. He obtained a BSME degree from the University of Connecticut and an MSME from Ohio State University. He also attended MIT to study Astronautics and lectured as an Aerospace Adjunct Professor at Brown University for ten years. He is the author of the E-Book "Making the Right Moves", a Bio and Tech chronicle of his 60-year engineering career.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Goldberg Levine and a son Samuel Levine, and remarried to Debrah Simonds Levine. A son, Marc Levine lives in Duxbury, MA, with his wife Domenique and 2 daughters Samantha and Ella. His daughter Nancy Atkinson lives in Amherst, NY with husband Joe, has a Phd degree from Buffalo University, and 3 children: Ariel, Ephriam and Shira. His great grandchildren are Eliora, Kobi, Idan, Avital, Naomi, Orli (Atkinson), Halleli, and Sadie (Gerow).
As a Research and Development engineer/manager/executive he worked for NACA (now NASA) at Langley, VA; Westinghouse Air Brake at Falls Church, VA; Aeronautical Research Lab at Dayton, OH; AVCO Missiles and Space Division, Wilmington, MA; and Fern Engineering in Pocasset, MA. He served in the USAF as a 1* Lieutenant. He was a principal investigator on many projects for NASA, Jet Propulsion Lab, and The Electric Power Research Institute and presented numerous technical papers in the U.S and Europe.
He leaves a legacy of portable software algorithms for gas turbine power plants to measure their real time efficiency and condition, as well as techniques to increase power output and efficiency.
The family moved to Mashnee Island, Bourne in 1974 and spent many years boating and fishing and just hanging out on Mashnee, their special place.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 11:00am at Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouthport with Rabbi Mendel Gurkow officiating.
