After over 102 years of an incredibly rich and vibrant life, Audrey D. (Hawkes) Kelley passed away on March 11, 2026.  Born on August 2, 1923, Audrey grew up in Harvard Square.  She attended Lesley College and became an early education teacher in Central Square.  During her middle school years, Audrey met her future husband, William E. “Bill” Kelley.  They dated through high school and college and were married in January of 1944 before moving to Wellesley, MA.

Audrey is survived by two children: William E. Kelley, MD and his wife Marcia, of Richmond, VA and Beth K. Crowell and her husband Joel of East Dennis, MA.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Lauren Koopman and her husband Martin of Greenwich, CT, Dana Kelley and her husband Massimo Criniti of Philadelphia, PA, Allison O’Dell and her husband Stephen of Westport, CT, Brad Kelley and his wife Jill of Burlington, VT, Jacob Crowell, MD and his wife Callie, of East Dennis, MA, Caleb Crowell and his wife Bethanie of Yarmouth Port, MA, and Abby Crowell of Yarmouth Port, MA, as well as 11 great-grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her parents William F. and Dorothy J. (Woods) Hawkes and her sister Frances H. Meyer.

Audrey always loved the sun, warmth, and the beach.  She and the family summered on the Cape for many years before retiring to Dennis in the 70’s.  Soon after, she and Bill became snowbirds going to different parts of Florida, buying and flipping a new condo each winter.  In the 90’s they moved to Kings Way in Yarmouth Port, and Audrey founded the 9-Hole Golf League at the Club at Yarmouth Port.  Upon the death of her beloved husband of 69 years in 2013, Audrey moved to Heatherwood where she found a wonderful community of friendship and support.  She will be fondly remembered for her total devotion and love for her family and friends, her style and elegance, her strength and tenacity, and her belief that you should never sit down and that you need to “move it or lose it”.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 26 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Cape Church, Stoney Brook Rd., Brewster, MA on Friday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment in Dennis Village Cemetery, Route 6A, Dennis with a luncheon to follow. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Cape Cod Times Neighbors Fund, P.O. Box 36, Hyannis, MA 02601.
