On Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Judith "Judy" Ann (Sencabaugh) Buck, surrounded by her loved ones at Cape Cod Hospital, unexpectedly went home to be with her beloved husband of 62 years Dicky, just shy of five months of us losing him.

Born in Cambridge in 1945, Judy, with her beautiful blond ringlets, grew up in Brewster. She was the daughter of Vi and Mac Sencabaugh and sister to Lawson Paul “Sonny”, all deceased.

While attending Cape Cod Community College, her travels down 6A always took her past the Sinclair Station (Bucky Beaver’s Magic Garage) at the corner of Route 134 and 6A where she would stop for gas. Of course, she met the owner, ever charming, handsome Dicky Buck. In November of 1963 their story began, marrying and building their family with their daughters Linda and Alesia.

Judy worked as a waitress at the Stageway Restaurant, the Dennis Inn and most notably in just about every capacity at the Dennis Public Market for well over 50 years, some of that time also at Peterson’s Market in Yarmouth Port. She retired in February of 2020.

She took great pride in her yard and home; she loved to garden and to take care of their beautiful home which she was doing right up until a week before her leaving us.  It  brought her great joy.

Her proudest accomplishments were being a mother to daughters Linda and Alesia, grandmother to Christopher, Zachary and Abigail as well as great grandmother to Aidan. She relished spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. The sleepovers, mini golf, trips to Nantucket, and so much more, will forever be cherished memories.

Judy will always be remembered for her kind, gentle soul. She loved deeply and unconditionally. However, if she became upset with you, you knew it, but it never ever lasted long. She had a forgiving nature and quiet strength. Many times she was compared to a saint. Always the first one to say I love you and then would say it again just for good measure.

Her love for animals was clear: whatever animal Dad brought home, be it baby racoons, (Pebbles, Shoo-Shoo, Sasha, Bonkers, there were more)  that had been abandoned or in someone’s chimney, an injured squirrel “Rocky”, a crow “Happy” that couldn’t fly because something was wrong with it’s wing, chickens and ducks and rabbits and more. Of course cats and dogs were always a part of the menagerie. We have SO many stories about her caring for these animals, nurturing them back to health. That was her nature and she nurtured our family with her love, encouragement and undying devotion. She was a saint.

She loved her family beyond measure and is survived by her two daughters, Linda DeLane and her husband Anthony of West Barnstable and Alesia Murray and her husband Thomas of South Dennis, her grandchildren Christopher and his wife Meghan Johnson, and Zachary and Abigail Murray, and great grandson Aidan and their golden retriever Ellie Mae who is just as heartbroken as we are to lose both of them so unexpectedly and so close together. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bert Buck of Sarasota, many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Cape Cod Hospital, the emergency room, Mugar 5 and the tireless efforts of the doctors and nurses in the CVICU. We are especially grateful to Faith Hallett and her team at Hallett Funeral Home for their compassion, guidance and care for all of us.

A private graveside service was held on Thursday May 21, 2026 at the Brewster Cemetery on Lower Road. A celebration of the lives of both Dicky and Judy will be held in the beginning of August.
