Rev. Dr. Michael Robert Stotts, 80, of Barnstable, MA passed July 4, 2026, at the Mayflower Place Skilled Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Colusa, CA to Rev. Dr. Herbert E. and his wife Gwen Stotts on Feb. 5, 1946. He attended Lexington High School and graduated in 1965. He received his master’s degree in 1971 and his doctorate in 1990 from Boston University. Michael was ordained in the Methodist ministry in 1971 and served as a Pastor for the United Methodist Church for over 30 years.

Michael is survived by his three sisters, two brothers and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Peggy, his parents and one sister.

Mike and Peggy spent time at Camp Aldersgate where friendships were formed and lives were enriched by our mutual faith and commonality. We were blest to have known Mike and Peggy and shared their friendship and support.

I was saddened to hear of Reverend Michael Stotts’s passing. He was a wonderful pastor who touched the lives of so many people. Reverend Stotts confirmed me at Wilmington United Methodist Church and, on Palm Sunday, March 27, 1988, presented me with a new Bible that I still use to this day. I will always remember his kindness and the important role he played in my life. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. He will be greatly missed.
