      Karen Farwell Eldred-Stephen died June 28, 2026, while in hospice care. She was born on August 3, 1945 in New York to Edna M. and Robert C. Eldred.  Her family moved to East Dennis, MA when she was an infant.
     Karen graduated from the Eza H. Baker School in Dennis and Northfield School for girls in 1963. She attended college in Ohio and then returned to work in Boston and New York City.  She pursued acting and was trained as a mezzo-soprano.  Many will remember her singing on Christmas Eve at the Dennis Union Church when she came home from New York to celebrate the holidays with her family.
     She is survived by her husband, Erwin Stephan; her nephew Joshua F. Eldred and his two sons; her niece, Sarah Eldred Taylor and her son and daughter; as well as step-siblings Susan, John, and Walter Schofield and their children.
     Karen was talented and clever, and a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.
    The service will be private with interment in Quivet Cemetery, East Dennis, MA.
